Performance
There are four aspects of "Evolving Rhythms" performance on offer:
1. A live producer "Cyber Tribal World" dance set suitable for festivals or venues. This can be a solo set, or can expand to involve live musicians and performers, depending on event and budget.
AJ has traveled through many countries, especially remote Pacific Islands, playing music and collecting samples of local music, which he has woven into a cross cultural journey in rhythm and dance.
AJ has played at almost every major NZ festival over the last 10 years, and has performed with such groups as Trinity Roots, Adham Shaikh, Tommy, the Nomad, My Golden Soul, Nga Morehu, and many more.
2. Non traditiional "Groove" drumming workshops at your festival. This one hour workshop has been a festival highlight for many. It inspires and encourages participation in the spontaneous creation of ancient group music, inspired by, but not limited to any traditional styles or cultures..
3. Creation and facilitation of a full zone for the duration of your festival. It's a space for participation in group drumming and has proven to be a popular daytime spot for a wide range of workshops. The video below was from the Canaan Downs New Years "Tribal Zone" 2008 / 09
The Evolving Rhythms Project is simply a means of reflecting the art of living in harmony with ourselves, with each other, and with our environments, which is the key to rhythm, music, and life.
We facilitate "Tribal" drumming zones, in accordance with our drumming protocols to share this experience.
4. A Circus Theatre show suitable for schools and youth groups, featuring live music, acrobatics and manipulation, telling the ancient story of the magic of drumming and trance / dream states.
